TITOFELIX
[http://www.titofelix.com]

For some, Tito Felix is that one "weird" uncle who only shows up at Thanksgiving and tells enough off-color jokes to make you wonder what exactly he keeps in his little flask. But to lead singer Marc Cordon, guitarist Seiha Kim, bassist P.J. Sobremonte, and drummer “BabyJay” Jay Opalia, “titofelix” is a way to convey the perils of youth, the bittersweet taste of love, and the often painful process of self-actualization through music. Combining the influences of emo and power pop, titofelix characterizes its music with driving guitars, universally appealing lyrics, and undeniably catchy melodies.

titofelix originally debuted as a cover band in September of 2000 at a WelcomeFest event held at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Consisting then of Cordon and Kim, they had mostly played during impromptu acoustic jam sessions. They followed this performance with a few more gigs, including a Hallow Eve’s gig in nearby Decatur, GA, where they met and recruited Opalia. The new trio ended 2000 with a spot at the Def Talent Jam, an annual talent showcase held by the UF Filipino Student Association in Gainesville, FL.

By early 2001, titofelix had begun to write and perform original songs. That summer, they relocated to Tampa, FL, to record a full-length album. The sessions resulted in a 10-track musical rollercoaster of raw energy and emotion entitled “Faux Pas.” Featuring a mix of songs ranging from the high-energy “Import Racing Girl” to the laid-back acoustics of “Gate C, Flight 2515,” this debut effort garnered moderate success through word-of-mouth. titofelix also continued to build their fanbase through performing live at different events such as the 2001 Asian Kaleidoscope Talent Showcase in Gainesville, FL, where the band was the featured headlining artist. With the recent addition of Sobremonte at bass, titofelix has now raised their level of talent and dedication. Most recently, the band placed 2nd at the 2002 University of North Florida Battle of the Bands in Jacksonville, FL, and traveled to Fairfax, VA, to perform at the Expressions 2002 Benefit Concert with Kamikaze Records artist One Vo1ce.

Currently, titofelix is preparing to record the follow-up to “Faux Pas” as well as schedule a series of live performances for the upcoming year. titofelix is available for live performances and/or interviews.
